Marjolein werkt als universitair hoofddocent en is hoofd van de sectie klinische neuropsychologie van de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Marjolein is onderwijscoördinator en betrokken bij de masteropleiding klinische neuropsychologie en forensische neuropsychologie. Zij is daarnaast werkzaam bij één van de regioteams van Levvel (voorheen Bascule). Zij doet onderzoek naar de etiologie, diagnostiek en behandeling van ADHD en disruptief probleemgedrag. Marjolein is een van de trekkers van de Academische Werkplaats ADHD en Druk Gedrag, en onderzoeker bij het Consortium ADHD en druk gedrag, dat zich richt op verbeteren van psychosociale zorg van kinderen met ADHD en druk gedrag.
